As we enjoy an unseasonably warm winter here in the States it has been cold and snowy in much of Europe including Italy.  It has even snowed in the Cinque Terre with snow forecast as far south as Rome. 

Snow in Cinque Terre is Unusual and Beautiful!

Snow makes a beautiful area even more beautiful.  Winter temperatures in Cinque Terre average in the 50′s but this week they are closer to 20 with more snow predicted. 

It is not only snowing the Cinque Terre.  According to ANSA bad weather is causing problems all over Italy.

In a story reminiscent of what we in the US experience on planes when bad weather hits, passengers on the Bologna-Taranto intercity train were stranded for 7 hours.

Buildings in the northeastern town of Trieste have suffered damage from gale-force winds called the Bora, slowing down city traffic and closing roads. Air traffic is also being affected in Rome where 10 flights to Milan Linate airport were cancelled on Thursday.
