Italian-American cuisine in Rome

Italian American cuisine is the cuisine of Italian American immigrants and their descendents, who have modified Italian cuisine under the influence of American culture and immigration patterns of Italians to the United States.
As immigrants from different regions of Italy settled in different regions of the United States and became “Italian-Americans,” they brought with them diverse traditions of foods and recipes that were particularly identified with their regional origins in Italy and yet infused with the characteristics of their new home locale in America. Many of these foods and recipes developed into new favorites for town peoples and then later for Americans nationwide; as, for example, the muffuletta sandwich from New Orleans or the "toasted ravioli" (actually breaded and deep-fried) from St. Louis, Missouri. A measure of the widespread popularity of Italian-American cuisine in the United States is in the Twin Cities Metropolitan Area of Minnesota, demographically dominated by Scandinavian and German Americans, the City Pages newspaper identified Italian-American food as the most widespread culinary style in the region, with examples ranging from the ubiquitous spaghetti dinner to fashionable restaurants.

Prominent American chefs and cooks working in the Italian-American style include: Giada De Laurentiis, Emeril Lagasse, Sal Scognamillo, Michael Chiarello, Frank Pellegrino, Laurie Thomas, Rocco DiSpirito, Tom Colicchio, Lidia Bastianich and others

Re: Italian-American cuisine in Rome

I already knew that pizza was an Italian invention, but what an ignoramus such as me didn't know until I lived in Italy was that the actual birthplace of the pizza in Italy is Naples, (or 'Napoli' as the Italians spell it). Thus, Bella Napoli pizza restaurant, is not just aptly named, it's actually a real traditional family-owned restaurant run by a mother and her sons from Naples. But if you think from that, that it's some tiny little rustic half-assed operation, you'd be wrong - The gang at Bella Napoli have really got their act together -Not only is it a popular haunt with local Roman Italians, they're also in tune with what tourists want - Their premises are large with plenty of seating, yet the place also retains a cosy, casual atmosphere, and they also have sidewalk tables. Menus are printed (or explained) in English and they even have a choice of thin'n'crispy pizzas, or deep pan, though Italian deep pan is nowhere as deep as American deep pan. Anyway, when in Rome, you really should make a point of trying the authentic thin and crispy pizzas, they're much healthier, and you can taste the fresh and subtle Italian topping flavours much better.

Trips to Rome are also great ideas for Stag and Hen parties. Stag party activities can range from the more conventional (such as go-karting, quad biking and target shooting), to specialised alcohol-based activities, including beers tours and wine tasting.

Rome is best known for rustic cooking that's rich, meaty, and comforting on a cold, winter night. Braised beef and roasted suckling pig - porchetta - are very popular.

Re: Italian-American cuisine in Rome

No doubt that Italy is the land which gave the Pizza to world but after this all the latest advancements and modification were done by the American people and expert chefs. It was universally introduced to world by Americans that is why it is considered falsely by people that it is from the Americal land but actually it is a Italian recipe.
