Re: Restaurants in Sicily

I had an excellent black ink pasta dish with calamari at the Bella Blu restaurant in Taormina.   If Taormina is on your itinerary give it a try.  If you get there early you can sit outside and enjoy the view.   For more you can visit the AmoreTravelGuides blog.

Re: Restaurants in Sicily

We were planning to stay in Catania, is Taormina better?

Re: Restaurants in Sicily

Taormina is much nicer than Catania.  Taormina is beautiful, there are a lot of restaurants and nice places to stay.  The views are beautiful.  There is a tram that goes between Taormina and the beach.  There is also an old Roman ampitheater there.

Re: Restaurants in Sicily

A "Restaurant Week" is an event where a group of restaurants in an area coordinate to offer a set menu for a certain meal, at a fixed price. This price is usually lower than the price you'd ordinarily pay at a restaurant.Rome Hotels

Re: Restaurants in Sicily

Taormina is expensive as it is touristy however it is a lovely little town! La bouganville is a lovely restaurant just near the main entrance to the public gardens. I used to often eat there, and it is not so big and not so touristy as the staff speak limited english and it is not on the main corso umberto (main street)

Re: Restaurants in Sicily

Another famous Catania restaurant is the dining room of the Excelsior Grand Hotel which was revamped in 2001. Le Zagare is an elegant dining space with flowering plants and candles serving to provide a delicate backdrop to the exquisite cuisine. The scorpion fish and lobster preparations are highly recommended.

Re: Restaurants in Sicily

I also prefer Catania for visiting due to its great weather and having number less beautiful places. I have been visit Catania with my some friends for 3 weeks. It's totally enjoyable time for us, we try to visit every places during our time but there are thousands of places that are better and beautiful then we had seen.  Midnight party is really awesome, we had done much fun and never forget those time.

If you go to Noto, try the restaurant Il Gattopardo, really original and typical fish dishes..
