Travelling Around Italy on a Budget

Hello everyone!

I am planning on travelling around Italy for two and half months between April and June 2013.

Because I will need to stick to a budget I'm researching cheap accommodation, sightseeing etc...

...so therefore can anyone advise me on the most economic way to visit all of the major cities? Can you recommend any specific accommodation anywhere? What's the cheapest way to travel around? Have you been couchsurfing and how did you find this experience? Can you recommend any cheap or free activities?

Any advice would be really appreciated!
thanks in Advance

Re: Travelling Around Italy on a Budget

It really depends but consider that most people in Europe live with 2-3K a month. So if you'd like to travel around you will need much more than that if you're planning on doing it for 6 months or a year. Traveling with trains could save you a lot of expenses and if you are willing to go camping you will save from accommodation. I suggest you find a job somewhere you like and stay there for a while.

Train or bus is public means of transport and save a lot of time and money. Why don't you choose it?
