Re: Favorite Foods in ItalyI know most Americans don't think they like them, but fresh anchovies (acciughe in Italian) are excellent. The best ones I have had were in Cinque Terre cooked with a little lemon. They are fresh without a hint of salt. Offline #4 07-10-2008 6:42 AM
Re: Favorite Foods in ItalyPizza in Italy? You kidding? Pizza, or the varieties as developed in US, is not an Italian specialty and you are better to select more genuine Italian fare in Italy. Going to Italy for pizza is like thinking you will find in China the same cuisine that is typically served in Chinese restaurants in Europe/N. America. Offline #5 07-18-2008 1:22 AM

Re: Favorite Foods in ItalyHow about the prosciuto! You can get prosciutto con melone, prosciutto with mozzarella, prosciutto in sandwiches. There is just something about the flavor and consistency of the prosciutto in Italy that is better than what you find anywhere else inthe world. Offline #7 07-20-2008 8:32 AM
Re: Favorite Foods in ItalyPizza may not come from Italy, but the best Pizza I have ever had was at a cafe in the ampitheater in Lucca. The crust had just the right amount of crispiness and the sauce and cheese were delicious. Offline #8 07-22-2008 9:24 AM
Re: Favorite Foods in Italythat's because Uncle Emilio sent the recipe from Grimaldi's Pizzeria in NYC, especially for the American tourists....just funnin' ya! Offline #9 07-24-2008 6:12 PM

Re: Favorite Foods in ItalyTo start with I disagree with F C Lee. Italy is the Pizza's queen with no doubt and you cannot go to Italy, and particularly to Naples, and not eat it. In Naples pizza margherita is served with a finger-licking mozarella, unique in Italy. Pizza in Italy is thin (unlike in America) and is made with light and genuine ingredients (not stuffed like in America). Authorities are trying to 'patent' it! Offline #13 01-18-2009 1:57 AM

Re: Favorite Foods in ItalyIt's gotta be the food served in La Tagliata in Positano. I couldn't remember how it's called in Italian but I'd never forget the pasta dishes and the overflowing wine. Good food! Offline #16 04-12-2011 6:13 AM
