| Caltagirone is an amazing city in Sicily. Ceramics are everywhere including the steps that lead up to the church at the top. It is quite a hike up to the top of the stairs, but you do not need to go all the way up unless you want to see the church. The risers of all the steps are in tiles. Much of the town including parts of the bridge, roofs of building, etc. have some sort of ceramic in the decoration. There are many stores in the town that sell ceramics. If you are buying make sure the products are local and that they do not contain lead. Some of the ceramics produced in Sicily cannot be brought into the US because of high lead content. |
