The Palazzo Pitti is home to a huge collection of paintings and other luxury assets. It was bought by the Medici family in the 16th century and has become the home of later generations. The palazzo was the opening to the Boboli Gardens.

Inside, there were galleries one after another. I couldn't keep track of all the Italian artists whose works were on display. I guess I was a bit lost in admiration of the beauty in front of me.

This enormous palace is open from Tuesday to Sunday. The entrance fee is less than 10 Euros and it included entrance to the Gallery of the Modern Art.

In the mid-16th century the Pitti Palace (Palazzo Pitti) was the main residence of the Medici family. Later it was home to the Lorraines and eventually became the royal palace of the Savoy dynasty (1865-1871) when Florence was the country’s capital. The palace was begun in 1457 by Luca Pitti a banker and rival of the Medici. The original design was by Brunelleschi, the designer of the Dumo’s dome. The building of the palace bankrupted Pitti and construction was stopped in 1465. The palace was purchased by the Medici in 1549. Today the palace houses numerous museums, including the Palatine Gallery, Modern Art Gallery, Silver Museum, State Apartments and Costume Gallery. The Palatine Gallery and State Apartments are a combined entrance fee.
