The city of Verona is named “city of love” for the great English playwright, Shakespeare, who wrote his most beautiful romantic opera, “Romeo and Juliet”, set right here. The writer isn’t never visited Verona but knowing it through the writings of Porto, Bandello and Salernitano compare it to Venice. One of the main routes to take start from the “House of Juliet”, which fascinates many tourists, and then visit the famous “Arena” (part of the Roman Age), which is the third largest Roman amphitheatre, and today is used to accommodate the famous opera festival arena. The monuments of this city are divided from the Age where the city stayed and we find the Medieval Age (where was built the “Duomo”), the Scala Age (where was built the “Palace of the Podestà”), the Venetian Age (where the control venetian was fruitful for building private and military) and the Austrian Age (where old buildings were fortified and built the “Teatro Nuovo”). Among the many routes we must not forget that nature and those religious.
Not far from the historic center of Rome, above Piazzale Clodio you may find a little and romantic restaurant. “The Zodiac” which takes its name from its location, in a panoramic position, on a hill 130 metres above the city. The position offers a look on all the heart of historical Rome, the castle (opposite) and the Appennines (behind). The beauty of the view is unparalleled and simply romantic. You can taste, as well as delicious cocktails, fine course of the Italian and international classic cuisine, the classic pizza baked, in a unique atmosphere, candlelight, with live music and cabaret. Precisely for this atmosphere is the destination of most lover for the evening of Valentine’s Day, which offers a full menu of meat and pasta, but opens whit the “cocktail cupido” and closed with a “heart of dark chocolate”. In addition this local is an usual meeting place of many celebrities, including famous Italian singer such as Claudio Baglioni, Lucio Dalla, Pino Daniele.
The price is modest for the location.
Venice, romantic and beautiful, with an invaluable artistic heritage, called “The Serenissima”, it has been for over a millennium the capital of the Republic of Venice.
The territory covers a large part of the Lagoon of Venice. To best way to start the day is breathing the rich history of Venice walking in the beautiful Piazza San Marco, where you find the Basilica San Marco, which its gold cover and Byzantine mosaics. Walking in the old city you can find the Palazzo Ducale in the Gothic style, and then the Bridge of Sighs. In any monument you see there are so many memories, just think that many artists and writers were born and raised here or they have based some of their works in this town.
The venetian best known is Marco Polo, but also Ugo Foscolo (famous poet and patriot of the Risorgimento) born when there was still the Republic of Venice, while have wrote: Carlo Goldoni (father of comedy dialect), Giacomo Casanova (prolific writer) and Shakespeare (with “Otello” and “The Merchant of Venice”). If we talk about music, Venice is the birthplace of the famous Baroque composer Vivaldi. In art we remember Jacopo Bellini (which arises between the Gothic and early Renaissance), James Bellini, Tintoretto that are part of the school of Italian Renaissance painting, and still today we can admire their masterpieces in the Accademy’s Gallery.
Finally, for end the day in full relax, you can take the tea on a beautiful boat that makes the round in the Canal Grande.
