Roman Forum - Sites & Things To Do - Rome, Italy
4 years ago

Since our Rome sidetrip was just a brief one, we visited the last site adjacent to the Colisuem and the Palatine Hill. These are all the places our ticket afforded us. Anyway, the Roman Forum is a block of huge columns, an assembly of ancient buildings at the heart of Rome. This place used to be the business district during the time of Augustus. When the Roman empire fell, the Forum was left to decay and had become a a cattle pasture during the Middle Ages.

What remains now are the arch of Titus and the arch of Septimuus Severus. Some of the stone blocks were taken off and was used to build churches and temples.

Palatine - Sites & Things To Do - Rome, Italy
4 years ago

The Palatine Hill is located between the Circus Maximus, the Colosseum and the Roman Forum. It is one of the famous seven hills in Rome. Much of the hill is now an excavation site; the most recent discovery is the Lupercal Cave which is said to be converted into an altar as seen by the decorated walls.

Like most of the historical architecture scattered in Rome, The Palatine Hill was home to opulent palaces and buildings of the Roman empire. Cicero, Augustus, Marc Anthony -- all had homes in the Hill.

What remains now are the preserved ruins of the dated structures and a beautifully manicured garden. It was such a spectacular landscape.

Coliseum - Sites & Things To Do - Rome, Italy
4 years ago

Definitely a must-see in Rome. The Coliseum is one of the most visited plces in Rome after St. Peter's Basilica. The ruins is still a sight to behold. Massive in size and teeming with historical memories. The architecture, despite the age, is very impressive. It takes you back to the time when gladiators, mostly slaves, criminals and prisoners of war, fight to death for entertainment.

As this is a major tourist hot spot, make sure that you get there early to avoid the long queue. Entrance to the Coliseum also include entry to the Palatine Hall which could be accessed via the Roman Forum.

Ristorante La Tagliata - Restaurant - Positano, Italy
4 years ago

We had great food memories of La Tagliata. It's a family run  restaurant serving local Italian food fare. There was no real menu, instead the owners would serve us various dishes in our table. There's salad, pasta, fish and meat. We just pick which food we like. There was plenty of food! And I've never eaten so much in my life. The food was just great.

There was a guitar playing in the background. The place has a very cozy ambiance.

We paid less than a 100 Euro and that's for two persons already.

We highly recommend La Tagliata in Positano. Eating there was one of the highlights of our honeymoon.

L Ancora Hotel - Hotels & Hostels - Positano, Italy
4 years ago

We proceeded to Positano after our Amalfi vacation. We stayed at Hotel L'Ancora for another week. Our room had a great view of the Mediterranean sea. Lovely hotel! Spacious rooms. And the jacuzzi in our room was fabulous.

The staff were extremely helpful. We were pampered all week. For breakfast, we had fresh rolls, yogurt and lattes.

The rate is quite on the high side but it's all worth it.  We're definitely coming back to Hotel L'Ancora.

Antica Repubblica Hotel Amalfi - Hotels & Hostels - Amalfi, Italy
4 years ago

We spent our honeymoon at Antica Repubblica. My husband and I would've wanted to go to Milan for our honeymoon but we decided to skip Milan and opted for another city in Italy. We've read great reviews about Amalfi Coast so we gave it a go. We chose Antica because of its location. It's in the city and near to every possible establishment we need to go to, just in case the food sucks in the hotel.

Our room was relatively small but according to our next-door neighbor, it was a standard room in Italy. The staff were absolutely friendly. We didn't have problems communicating with them.

We had breakfast at the roof terrace which was really lovely. The meals were fantastic. We had rolls, yogurt and freshly made cappuccino.

Excellent service and location. We have good memories of Amalfi.
