A la Commedia Hotel Venice - Hotels & Hostels - Venice, Italy
1 year ago
The Commedia Hotel is one of my favorite hotels in Italy. It is very quiet, the staff is friendly and the lcoation is great. Our room and bathroom were both very large. We even had a flatscreen TV though we rarely watched it. Why would you when there is so much to do in Venice? The hotel is close to both the Rialto Bridge and St. Mark's Square. Breakfast was very good and the coffee was excellent. For some reason I have been disappointed in the coffee served at some of the hotels in Italy.
Cesari Hotel Rome - Hotels & Hostels - Rome, Italy
1 year ago
I love the Cesari in Rome. The location is the best of any hotel in Rome. I got to the hotel before check in, but my room was ready so they let me check in early. My room and bathroom were both huge and very clean. The Cesari is only a few minute walk to the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon and Piazza Navona. Breakfast is served on the top floor so you get an excellent view of the rooftops of Rome. Breakfast was good though nothing special with a variety of fruit, bread, cheese, ham and juice. If you can make a reservation without breakfast and go to the coffee shop down the street, I believe it is the tasso d'Oro. There are a lot of nice restaurants in the area. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

Venice, Italy in a day
I would be inclined to skip Murano. It is pretty, but if you have a day I would skip it and go to Ca d'Oro. Ca d'Oro is a beautiful palazzo on the Grand Canal.
Trains in Italy
It is indeed true that the best way to get from Fiumiccino the Rome airport into the city is by taking the train that runs from the airport to Termini. The train runs frequently and is fairly inexpense. The trains are safe in Italy except for the pickpockets. Make sure your wallet is secure. You don't want to leave yourself too exposed by being overloaded with your luggage.
