Porta POrtese Market - Shopping - Rome, Italy
1 year ago

Porta Portese Market is a bargain-hunter's haven. If you're good at haggling prices with vendors then this is your place. The vendors sold all kinds of stuff here i.e. second hand items like handbags, leather products, medallions and so on.I bought a few souvenirs for my folks back home.

They're open on Sundays only. So make sure you put this on your diary because you might miss all the fun in buying bargain stuff in there. If you're lucky, you might find a gem among the  multitude of what-have-you's in their stalls.

Ristorante Alfredo - Restaurant - Rome, Italy
1 year ago

One of the best-tasting pasta I've ever tasted. Ristorante Alfredo was recommended by our tour guide. We had dinner for 2 nights and wow, the food was perfect. We ordered different dishes so we can partake of each other's food. We had the usual pasta fanfare, meatballs, Roman chicken then we washed it down with red wine. Our dessert was a platter full of fresh fruits. Very sumptuous meal at a very reasonable price. We didn't spend a lot for the good food that's why we came back twice.

This place is highly recommended. I'm putting Ristorante Alfredo in my must-visit list.

Colosseum - Roman Coliseum - Sites & Things To Do - Rome, Italy
1 year ago

After watching the movie "Jumper", I told myself that I'm not going to miss the Coliseum once I'm on a holiday in Rome. Last month, I had the opportunity to spend summer in this wonderful place. Our guide took us to the Coliseum on our second day. And my, it was vast! I imagined the early days of the Roman empire where gladiators fought in the arena for entertainment of the kings, queens and their retinue.

Though centuries old, what remains was preserved for posterity. I find the whole place enchanting. It was a unique experience.

We did lots of walking and cruised the perimeter of the Coliseum from all angles. Our tour guide was very helpful in taking us down to memory lane.

Musei Vaticani - Vatican Museums - Sites & Things To Do - Rome, Italy
1 year ago

We visited the Vatican Museum with a tour guide. Our schedule was in the afternoon. I was hoping to have it in the morning but the guide told us that mornings are usually jam-packed. Besides, the whole tour will last for hours and it's best to have lunch first before heading off to the Vatican.

I truly enjoyed the tour except for one thing, I wasn't able to take photos. The Vatican has strict rules in regards to taking pictures. According to them, it'll (the flash, lights perhaps) contribute to the degradation of the artwork. So I had to content myself with remembering all the gorgeous artworks that I've seen.

Pantheon - Sites & Things To Do - Rome, Italy
1 year ago

The trip to Rome wouldn't be complete without visiting the Pantheon. This huge historic building is simply amazing. We made sure that we went there early because we anticipated the crowd. The paintings, sculpture and art deco were awesome. We spent hours looking at each masterpiece in detail.

One thing that really caught our attention was the huge dome above us. It was like a trip back in time, really. We couldn't help but gush over the beauty of the Pantheon. Imagine if this was perserved in its original state, it would be more beautiful that what it is now.

Awesome! One of the best places in Rome.

Le Muse Hotel Rome - Hotels & Hostels - Rome, Italy
1 year ago

If you're planning to stay in Rome for a longer period, I think it's best to get a B&B type to save on lodging expenses. While we're on the hunt for a nice B&B near the city, we stumbled upon Le Muse Hotel in the internet. In the photos, the location seemed okay, reviews are positive. We finally decided to give this one a go so we booked here and stayed for a week. We're glad we made the decision. It was the perfect B&B for us.

The staff received us warmly. Our room was spotlessly clean. This location was just what we needed. It's minutes away from the city. The neighborhood is quiet and safe. The staff are multi-lingual. They can communicate well in English. Restaurants and bars are nearby so eating out wasn't much of a problem with us.

Great place! We'll book here again.
