Assunta Anichini - Shopping - Florence, Italy
4 years ago
We bought lovely dresses for our daughter at Assunta Anichini. It was my wife who stumbled upon this store online. And we made sure that we paid a visit when we visited Florence. The designs were elaborate and I think they've an entire collection of children's apparel.

The Vivoli Gelateria was super! My wife and I went back for second helpings. One thing I love about Florence is that gelaterias are everywhere. This one is good. We highly recommend it.

Santa Croce - Sites & Things To Do - Florence, Italy
4 years ago

The Piazza Santa Croce is yet another spectacle in Florence. This square was originally the site of public meetings. Today,  shops of all kinds fill the place. Great buildings decorate the piazza's vicinity including the beautiful Santa Croce Church.

The square is home to artists with their creations on display. You may find a street entertainer once in a while. And of course, tourists are everywhere!

Piazza della Signoria Palazzo Vecchio - Sites & Things To Do - Florence, Italy
4 years ago

The Piazza della Signoria was our first stop. The Piazza has been the center of politics since time immemorial. It used to be a large theatre was later on converted into various buildings.

According to history, the land was owned by the powerful Ghibelline family but when the Guelphs took over, they destroyed all properties.

Anyway, now it's a busy place where you can find lots of bars, ice cream shops and restaurants.

Hotel Mona Lisa - Hotels & Hostels - Florence, Italy
4 years ago

The Hotel Mona Lisa is situated in a quiet area near the city. We paid over $200 a night so we expect that this is first rate. When we got there, I must say that this was an okay hotel. Nothing fancy other than the paintings that decorate the hotel. It was so-so to speak. The hotel's staff were friendly and accommodating though.

There was no lift which was difficult especially if your room is on the 2nd floor or further up.

Breakfast was another ho-hum. Nothing special. There's the usual bread, some fruits and  pastries.

I think the rate is over the top. If give the chance to visit Florence again, I would've checked out other hotels in the area.
