Mica's Italy Reviews

Upim - Shopping - Florence, Italy
Upim is a chain of department stores in Italy. We checked it out and to see what's inside it. It's your typical all-American like department store. Nothing extraordinary. If you want to purchase local trinkets or souvenirs, you're better off to visit the small shops located in the side streets of Florence.

I Fratellini - Restaurant - Florence, Italy
4 years ago

This place was recommended by a coworker of mine who have been to Florence on a business trip. She said it's one of those specialty sandwich shops in Florence with a local following. We tried and glad we did. We love their sandwiches and the small talk that comes along with it.

For less than 5 Euros, we had a full sandwich and a glass of wine. Just perfect for those on a budget.

Salvatore Ferragamo - Shopping - Florence, Italy
4 years ago

Who doesn't know Salvatore Ferragamo? We didn't buy a pair of expensive designer shoes instead, we checked out his shops and likewise, the headquarters in Florence.

There was a shoe museum and of course, we checked it out as well. It's true that you have to call for an appointment. So if you want to include the Shoe Museum in your itinerary, you have to call them and book in advance.

Palazzo Pitti - Sites & Things To Do - Florence, Italy
4 years ago

The Palazzo Pitti is home to a huge collection of paintings and other luxury assets. It was bought by the Medici family in the 16th century and has become the home of later generations. The palazzo was the opening to the Boboli Gardens.

Inside, there were galleries one after another. I couldn't keep track of all the Italian artists whose works were on display. I guess I was a bit lost in admiration of the beauty in front of me.

This enormous palace is open from Tuesday to Sunday. The entrance fee is less than 10 Euros and it included entrance to the Gallery of the Modern Art.

Ponte Vecchio - Sites & Things To Do - Florence, Italy
4 years ago

Our hotel is near the Ponte Vecchio so we didn't miss this landmark for the world! The Ponte Vecchio is a medieval bridge over the Arno River. There were shops built around it e.g. souvenir shops, restaurants and more.

It is one of Europe's oldest arch bridges. Tourists flock to this area for photos. It's a great location, needless to say.

Giardino di Boboli - Sites & Things To Do - Florence, Italy
4 years ago

The Boboli Gardens is one of the famous parks in Florence. It is home to a whole gamut of sculptures and other artworks dating back from the 16th century.

There was Neptune with his trident. There were also paintings, grottoes and plenty of panoramic views to enjoy.

The garden has a man-made water source. The guide said that there was mot natural irrigation in this part of Florence so they have to build one. There was also the amphitheater and a series of terraces with water features.

The tour was fun and educational, too.

Lungarno Hotel Florence - Hotels & Hostels - Florence, Italy
4 years ago

The Lungarno Hotel was the perfect location. It's right around the corner of Ponte Vecchio. There were a lot of restaurants outside the hotel. It was again perfect for us because our booking didn't include breakfast.

We got the room at the 8th floor. The bed was more than enough for me and my boyfriend. It was huge. The room was spotless and very clean. The maid did a great job in making sure that our room was always sparkling and squeaky clean. The service was fantastic. Couldn't say more. The concierge staff were hospitable and very professional. They gave us directions and suggested museums and other pit stops that we should not miss.

I definitely recommend Lungarno Hotel. If we find ourselves in Florence for another holiday, we would not think twice about booking here again.
