Trattoria Tonino al Governo Vecchio - Restaurant - Rome, Italy
3 years ago
There is not much atmosphere here but you cannot beat the price. Because of that, the great food and the small size the place is always packed. Trattoria da Tonino al Governo Vecchio offers cheap pasta as well as some more exotic dishes like rabbit, which is exotic for Americans. It also has a number of beef and veal dishes. This is primarily a lunch place and closes at 3 pm. Also, it is cash only.

I love this place - it has the best gelato in Rome!
Armando al Pantheon - Restaurant - Rome, Italy
3 years ago
The Armando al Pantheon is one of my favorite restaurants in Rome. It is located near the Pantheon which is convenient but somewhat touristy. The Armando al Pantheon is a little more upscale than what you normally think of as a trattoria. It is family owned - several brothers run the place. There is air conditioning which is a plus in Rome in the summer. Both the food menu and the wine menu are extensive. There is a little something for everyone. For some reason, the restaurant is closed on Saturday nights and Sunday.

The Bellini's at Harry's Bar are great, the ones at Macaroni Grill not so great.
Live in Italy for 1 Year

I can't believe no one has said Rome! There is so much history there. Plus with the airport and train station you can get to anywhere in Italy easily. The restaurants are the best in the world. I would definitely live in Rome.
