No question about it, the Cipriani is a luxury hotel. Since it is on Giudecca it is nice and quiet and private. A private boat operated by the hotel takes guests back and forth from the hotel to St. Mark's. The Cipriani is beautiful, but I think I prefer staying on the mainland of Venice. I did not feel like I got the true Venice experience.

Located on the island of Giudecca, across the Grand Canal from Piazza San Marco, the Cipriani is the definition of luxury. Celebrities, royalty and the very rich stay at the Cipriani. There is a private launch available to take you across the canal. The amenities are almost too numerous to list: restaurants, bars, tennis courts, spa, an Olympic-sized saltwater pool,etc. Needless to say the rooms are lavish and the bathrooms are spectacular. Although the surroundings are impressive, the service is formal and you will not get a feel for the city. In fact, much of the hotel looks out over the swimming pool though there are beautiful views from much of the hotel. It is not to my taste, on the other hand it is fun to be pampered for a day or so.
