| The Ca' d'Oro (House of Gold) is one of Venice's prime examples of a Gothic palazzo. Sitting on the Grand Canal it is hard to miss. With architecture reminiscent of the Doge's Palace the Ca'd'Oro was built between 1421 and 1431. The Palazzo has undergone a number of changes some more disastrous than others to end up with the building you see today. The ground floor of the palazzo provides an insight into how the palaces sitting on the Grand Canal functioned. Other areas of the building house an art museum and Trattoria. |
