Once you own an iPad, you wonder how you ever survived without one
There are so many things you can do with an iPad including learning Italian. Amore Travel Guides recently reviewed Duolingo which is the best computer, iPhone and iPad system to learn Italian.
However, if all you want to do is learn some basic Italian phrases to “get by” on your trip to Italy, “Learn Italian – Phrasebook for Travel in Italy” iPhone and IPad app is for you.
Duolingo iPhone and iPad app guides you through learning Italian.
It chooses what you are going to learn within a category.
You learn Italian in Duolingo like you would in the “real world” but you can’t easily focus on particular phrases. Even when you repeat lessons, the words Duolingo provides aren’t always the same the next time around.
Which is why “Learn Italian Phrasebook” is a perfect supplement to Duolingo.
“Learn Italian Phrasebook” app is like flash card learning but with the advantage of picking and choosing the phrases you want to practice.
You can also auto play the list of phrases for review and bookmark a list of favorites. You can see the ones we selected as favorites indicated by red hearts.
With both apps you can choose the speed that phrases are spoken. Clicking a turtle gives you the slower speed which is very helpful. The sound is a little more clear and the voice is a little better in “Learn Italian” app.
Basic phrases for Greetings, General Conversation, Numbers, Eating Out, Transportation, Directions & Places are included for free in the “Learn Italian” app..
If you want to increase the types of phrases, there is a paid app of “Learn Italian” which has more phrases.
The free app will give you a very good basis to make your decision about whether to upgrade. Once you have your foundation, you may just want to continue with Duolingo since it is free at all levels and more advanced.
In the scheme of things, their minimal charge for the upgraded app is a small price to pay for more phrases. Most books will cost you more money and won’t have the advantage of hearing the phrase as often as you want. Pronunciation is important.
Learning some quick basics will only help your language foundation. We recommend trying the free “Learn Italian Phrasebook” app then make your own decision about upgrading.
If you want an indepth understanding of Italian, Duolingo is the app for you.
