Piazza Santa Croce is a huge square in front of the church. There is a fountain, a large monument dedicated to Dante and two palazzi. The site, according to townspeople, was used to hold festivals and sermons conducted by the Franciscan monks during the 17th century. We also visited the huge church of Santa Croce. Inside the church, you can find the tomb stones of Michelangelo and Galileo Galilei. The stained glass of the church were beautiful as well as the paintings and the frescoes. We have to pay 4 Euros for the tour . Taking photos is allowed but make sure that you turn your cameras flash off. One local tipped us to coming to the church during Christmas season because there's a live nativity scenes inside the church. It's something to look forward to! |
