Umbria's capital region, Perugia, is a cool place situated at the center of Italy. A beautiful place to visit, you will surely marvel at historical buildings, lively squares, shops, and a good view from the top. I know this because I've experienced it. Perugia was the first stop in my Italian adventure and the moment I stepped foot in this hill town with medieval walls, I was totally enthralled. It was a beautiful place. The climate was perfect, the daylight was nice, and the people were amazing. I didn't waste a minute; I embarked on my adventure right away. Armed with print-outs of the places to visit, which I got from the Internet, I asked the help of a local to guide me around town. Here are the places I saw and recommend for you to visit: 1. Piazza IV Novembre - this is a beautiful large, open space where lots of people gather. You can meet your friends here and take some photos; or sit by the 2. Fontanna Maggiore - a fountainmade of white and pink stones that serves as the centerpiece of the Piazza. 3. Palazzo Dei Priori - the town's city hall. A magnificent building that houses four museums. 4. Etruscan Arch - this is one of the town's gates and a remnant of its Etruscan past. 5. Oratorio of San Bernardino - Perugia's church of San Francesco. The inside of this building is as beautiful as its pink and white facade. A huge altar is the centerpiece of the building's interior. It also has several huge paintings hanging on the wall. 6. Torre Degli Sciri - you'd definitely want to take a picture in Perugia's last remaining tower. |
