Small Towns in Tuscany

I will be spending a week in Florence this fall and am looking for suggestions on some towns near Florence that I should visit.  I will not have a car so I need to be able to take either the train or bus.  I already have Siena on my list, are there any others that I should see?

I like Volterra, though I am not sure how you get there without a car.  There is an excellent Etrusan museum.  Volterra is known for its alabaster and all the stores sell items made from alabaster.  It is a great town to walk around.

If you are going to be in Florence you have to visit Siena.  Siena is a college town so there is a lot to do there.  Also, there is a beautiful black and white gothic cathedral.  You can take the train to Siena but the station is about a mile from the town.  You can also take a bus from Florence to Siena.

Re: Small Towns in Tuscany

You could spend a lifetime in Florence and not see all there is to see.  Sit back, enjoy a gelato and spend your week in Florence.
