Information on Italy

I will not be traveling to Italy this year, normally I go every fall. The US economy is just too scary and the Euro too high. I am looking for things that can give me an Italian travel experience from home. Can anyone suggest good books or movies that can transport me from my living room to the Amalfi Coast?

I like Andrea Camilleri. He writes Italian mysteries set in Sicily. His detective Montalbano loves to eat and never lets a murder get in the way of his next meal. Camilleri writing style is witty and smart. He often tackles real issues and puts a Sicilian spin on them. When you read the books you can almost feel the Sicilian sun on your face and taste the fresh linguine con vongole.

I like to watch travel DVD's or travel shows. I especially enjoy Rick Steves DVD's.
