Antiquities or Churches

If you only have 24 hours in Rome which would you focus on antiquities (the coleseum, the forum, etc.) or churches (the Vatican, etc.)?

The Vatican, it is unlike anything you will see anywehre else.  Plus you will be sure to pass a few ruins when you are walking around Rome, even if you don't go to the coliseum.
