I stayed in the Hotel 5 Terre with my sister and brother-in-law so I was able to see 2 different rooms and what a difference there was between the rooms. I was by myself in a small room, it was fine for one person, but it was small. The bed was full size and left no space to walk around the room and the bathroom was tiny, very clean but tiny. I looked out on the laundry and a small road that wound up into the hillside, not unpleasant but not picture postcard pretty either. My sister and her husband on the other hand had a room with two full size beds, a large bathroom and a window that looked out onto the sea. There are some rooms that do not have private bathrooms, so if that is important to you be sure to ask in advance. The owners were very pleasant with varying degrees of fluency in English. They were more than willing to try to understand your Italian. The breakfast was good, definitely all that I needed, but nothing spectacular. The hotel is an easy walk to the beach. It is located in the new section of Monterosso, but it is an easy walk to the old historic section. It is also an easy walk to the start of the hiking trail to Vernaza. There are a lot of good restaurants near by.
