The San Pietro in Vincoli is famous for Michelangelo's sculpture of Moses. The basilica's domed shaped ceiling and opulent interiors are stunning.

Our group came to this place to see the Moses statue. The painter Antonio Pollaiuolo was also buried here along with other priests and cardinals. The church was originally founded to house the chains that bound St Peter in Palestine.

It's best to come in the morning to avoid the crowd. Admission is free and the basilica is open daily.

San Pietro in Vincoli is a huddle church in Rome. It is difficult to fine it because it doesn't look like a church. It is very small and in my opinion it looks like a school. Inside you will see one of the most important works of Michelangelo. The statue of Moses is absolutely amazing. If you pay attention you can recognize the veins and the look on his eyes is very real, too

San Pietro in Vincoli (St. Peter in Chains) is a bit off the beaten track for tourists but the statue of Moses by Michelangelo makes the visit worthwhile. The face of Moses is powerful and very moving; the statue is considered a Michelangelo masterpiece. It is unusual in that Moses has horns. There are various explanations for this--a mistranslation from Hebrew to Latin in which beams of light turned into horns, an old way of showing piety, I am sure there are others. The chains of Saint Peter are in a case in front of the alter, but the main reason to visit this site is Moses.
